Babar Azam on Shaheen Shah Afridi’s injury being the turning point of T20 World Cup final: It cost us a different result

 Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of the most respected cricketers in Pakistan and quite competent with the ball. So when he got injured before the last over, it came as a major blow for Pakistan and cost them the game.



Afridi was playing well and bowling well- just like he always does. He has been instrumental in winning many games for Pakistan and is a very popular player as well.

Pakistan had almost won the game but when Afridi got hit, they could not go on with their plan of defense and lost to Australia after completing 20 overs.

This was one of the most memorable moments in the World Cup final. One of the key players for Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, had to leave the field for a brief period after being hit by a ball.  

Babar Azam said that the injury to Shaheen Shah Afridi was the turning point of T20 World Cup final. He added that it cost us a different result. We should be proud of our team because they did their best in the final.

Babar Azam said that he is deeply disappointed with the result but we still should be proud of our team because they did their best at the final and made us proud as a nation.

The wicket of Alex Hales is the turning point in the game. The importance of picking up wickets to restrict runs and win matches can't be overlooked.

Babar admitted that Pakistan were quite a bit short of where they would have wanted to end their innings while batting, but lauded the fast bowlers for putting in a whole-hearted effort. 

“We were 20 runs short but fight to the last over was unbelievable. Our bowling is one of the best but unfortunately Shaheen's injury cost us a different result, but that's part of the game," Babar added. 

Ben Stokes scored an unbeaten 49-ball 52 and helped England get past the target with one over left in their innings.
